Mike Lucey was appointed the role of General Manager Precontracts in May 2023 as the business grows its service offering in Defence, Maritime and Environment markets. 

Mike is a precontracts, estimating and delivery professional with over 35 years’ of experience in the civil, structural, rail, mechanical, marine and power industries. Mike has held General Manager and National Manager roles in the UK, Southeast Asia, India, and Australia. 

At Downer, Mike was the National Precontracts Manager for the Infrastructure Projects Division and prior to Birdon, was the Group Head of Estimating for the UGL Businesses and sat on the Executive Governance and Review Team. Mike is a passionate, performance-driven team leader who brings consistency to the Birdon processes and practices to assure the integrity of tenders. 

Mike leads the work-winning function at Birdon across all lines of business to deliver on corporate strategy, and best practice, setting collaborative winning team cultures through to operations.
